Midwestern Green Jobs Project
The Power of Renewable Energies: Job Opportunities in the fields of Manufacturing, Installation, Maintenance and Service are Growing.
Midwestern Green Jobs Project
As manufacturing and farming strongholds, the Midwestern states of the US are among the country’s biggest emitters. At the same time, they have the potential to demonstrate the feasibility of sound transformation to a low-carbon economy with permanent jobs. A look at the crisis-ridden states reveals the amplitude of the challenge ahead, but also how unprecedented alliances are increasingly pushing for energy-policy reform.

In cooperation with the Blue Green Alliance, this project discusses current and future policy measures for the transition to a low-carbon economy and the creation of green jobs in the Midwest. In preparation of the Midwestern Green Jobs Tour, meetings and interviews with key stakeholders in Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan and Ohio were conducted. Below is a first selection of interviews displaying initiatives and stakeholders that show leadership in the regional transformation to the low-carbon economy. In September 2010, a new report of policy recommendation was released: Clean Energy Jobs for the US Midwest - Lessons learned from the German Success Story of Low Carbon Growth.
