Sebastian Schwecke is assistant professor at the research group on modern Indian history at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen. His areas of research include the political economy of movements based on conceptions of identity (Hindu nationalism, Islamism, Dalits and other caste-specific movements, secular nationalism), processes of social stratification and differentiation in South Asia, and democratization and transformation.
