The Political Economy of Boomerang Aid in China's Tibet

March 17, 2009 - Since the mid-1990s, the Chinese government has channelled massive amounts of subsidies into Western China. While Tibetan areas have experienced some degree of economic development in the wake of this aid, it has mostly been Chinese-owned companies that have reaped the benefits, leaving the Tibetans behind.
