Islamabad at night

The office’s work focuses on the equitable use of natural resources, renewable energy, climate change, women’s participation in policy development and the promotion of stability and peace.

For a long time, Pakistan was held together only by a common Islamic identity. Time and again, the country was under authoritarian rule. For the first time in its history, Pakistan experienced an orderly transition from a democratically elected government to an elected successor government in 2013. However, the country is being increasingly weakened by poor economic development and a severe energy crisis, the fragile sociopolitical situation and steadily increasing violence by militant groups at the national and regional levels.

Together with civil society actors, the media and the scientific community, the hbs office in Pakistan is promoting a national and regional dialog on critical political and social issues with particular consideration of the interests of women and youth. With numerous activities of its own, research initiatives, dialog, networking and publications, the office’s work focuses on the equitable use of natural resources, renewable energy, climate change, women’s participation in policy development and the promotion of stability and peace. The foundation’s office also provides a wide range of actors with a space for critical encounters and communication and offers artists the opportunity for creative dialog.
