Professional Experience
Since 2004: Coordinator of the “Juárez Women’s Roundtable” network (Red Mesa de Mujeres de Juárez)
In this capacity, among other things:
- Coordinating numerous projects funded by various organizations on violence against women, women’s health, gender, youth work, and other topics
- Conducting seminars and collaborating with universities
- Delivering lectures both domestically and abroad

1999–2004: Work on various projects related to gender and violence (funded by, among others, the National Women’s Institute, the National Institute for Social Development, and the Ford Foundation)
1994–1999: Worked as an attorney specializing in civil, criminal, and family law
Participation in projects, campaigns, and initiatives (a selection):
Since 2001: “End Impunity—Not One More Death” campaign against femicides in Ciudad Juárez
Since 2001: (Legal) support for cases involving missing women and assistance to their families
2005/2006: Established two degree programs on “Gender, Violence, and Public Policy” and on “Citizen Safety and Human Rights” in coordination with the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez and the Colegio de la Frontera Norte
2007: Member of the team that initiated the report on the human rights situation in Chihuahua
Since 2007: Member of the National Observatory on Femicide
Since 2007: Counterpart for the Mexican Human Rights Academy to implement CEDAW’s recommendations for Juárez; in this context, prepared a so-called shadow report for CEDAW in 2012
2008–2012: Campaigned for the creation of a comprehensive program to combat violence against women in the state of Chihuahua, which led to the opening of the first women’s justice center
2009: Coordination of the amicus curiae brief submitted to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights regarding the murders of women in Juárez.
2012–2014: Coordination of a monitoring program in which numerous civil society organizations monitored public policies on citizen safety in six cities in Chihuahua and engaged in dialogue with municipal governments (funded by the EU)
Since 2012: Training on gender issues for the local public prosecutor’s office
2013: Coordination of a degree program on public safety, gender, and human rights at the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez
