Beijing office, China

Together with our Chinese partner organizations, our office observes and analyzes China's complex developments and promotes communication and consultation.

Global problems can no longer be solved without the involvement of China. The former developing country has evolved into a powerhouse of the world economy and is increasingly shaping the global order. At the same time, China is feeling the impact of the serious environmental and social problems associated with industrialization and economic growth.

Together with our Chinese partner organizations, our office observes and analyzes these complex developments and promotes communication and consultation. In the fields of the environment, climate and energy, its primary objective is to integrate civil society organizations in national and global debates on sustainability and climate change. The Beijing office uses studies and communication with relevant actors to promote understanding of China’s global commitments in the areas of resource extraction, infrastructure development and regional security.

This includes bringing representatives of Southeast Asian and African municipalities and NGOs impacted by Chinese investment projects together with experts in the Chinese government and business community. Using case studies and direct personal dialog, our office and its Chinese partners develop recommendations for improving the legal framework and environmental and social standards of Chinese investment projects.
