"Reporters Without Borders" has set up a commission of journalists, Nobel laureates, and members of civil society to protect the fundamental right to independent information and democratic communication. Their international "International Declaration on Information and Democracy" was presented at the Paris Peace Forum on 11 November 2018. Twelve countries (including Canada, France and Denmark) pledged their commitment to the principles outlined in the Declaration.
Christophe Deloire, secretary-general of RSF, chairs the commission alongside Nobel peace laureate Shirin Ebadi. In this interview he discusses the vision underpinning the Declaration and explains where the process will go from here.
