Greens gather at a world congress in Brazil

Global Greens 2008, the second green world congress started on the first of May in São Paulo, Brazil. Over 500 delegates from all over the world participated. The conference focused on political, social, economic and ecological aspects of the climate crisis. Main was “21 Points for the 21st Century”, a Global Greens Climate Action Plan, that is supposed to build the basis for coordinated action by Greens globally in the coming five years.

Participants of Global Greens 2008 included members of green parties and green movements from all over the globe. Amongst the delegates were numerous members of local and national parliaments and office holders. Key issues of the conference were the post-Kyoto negotiations, biodiversity and forests, and next steps for the Global Greens network.
