Gert Röhrborn has headed the Heinrich Böll Foundation’s Regional Office in Belgrade since April 2026. Previously, he worked at the foundation’s Warsaw office from 2014 to 2021, most recently as Head of the Democracy and Human Rights Program. His areas of focus included the rule of law and populism, migration and gender democracy, as well as German-Polish relations.

He subsequently worked as a freelance translator and published analyses in international journals. Earlier positions included the Hannah Arendt Institute in Dresden, Citizens of Europe e.V. in Berlin, and the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation in Warsaw.

Gert Röhrborn studied political science in Leipzig, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Berlin. As a committed feminist, he believes that democratic social change begins with ourselves.
