
Mattia Nelles is the co-founder of the German-Ukrainian Bureau, a boutique consultancy focused providing analysis and advising European civil society, politics, and businesses on Ukraine. Until recently, he served as a foreign policy advisor to a member of the Bundestag. Until the full-scale Russian invasion worked in Ukraine for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on community development in Eastern Ukraine.
Mattia focuses on Eastern Europe, but especially Ukraine, where he lived and worked for several years. Until late 2020, he was Program Director for Ukraine at the Center for Liberal Modernity (LibMod) in Berlin. There he managed, among other things a consulting project with Ukrainian parliamentarians. He holds a master’s degree in political science from Free University of Berlin.
