The Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) always supports the efforts made by the Islamic State of Afghanistan and international community for restoration of peace and stability, good governance, fighting corruption and ending the culture of impunity, economic and social development and improvement of regional cooperation brought up in the London Conference.
The AIHRC fully believes that the strategy set forth for negotiation with the government oppositions and building of peace and stability in the country would be realized if it is based on the following principles:
- emphasis on the values of human rights, justice and litigation,
- transparency and legitimacy of the process and practical mechanisms developed in the strategy,
- emphasis on Afghan peoples’ participation and contribution in different phases of design and implementation of the process, and
- monitoring and evaluation of the process.
The experience of the past several years in the country is indicative of the fact that transparency and legitimacy of any action will come under question, and the result of any attempt or effort that is not based on the above mentioned principles would be negative, unless the governments’ actions are based on human rights values, ensuring of justice, and active participation and consultation of Afghan people in the process.
The AIHRC hopes that the subsequent actions taken by Afghanistan’s government and the international community for developing transparent and practical mechanisms would be based on active participation of Afghans, so that the constitutional achievements of the country towards human rights, women’s rights, freedom of speech and media and civil society’s activities would be protected and supported, and up holding of the values of justice, litigation and ending of impunity would be a top priority in their working agendas.
