Dr. Mehmet Gökhan Tuncer is the founding director of the Heinrich Böll Foundation’s office in Tirana. He established the Foundation’s office in Albania in late 2020 and has led it ever since. Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer at Humboldt University of Berlin and worked for many years in international civic education and project development. He studied political science at the University of Vienna, where he earned his Ph.D. with distinction, and economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, where he graduated with distinction. He also completed a period of study at King’s College London.
His work focuses on democratic transformation, sustainable development, culture, civil society, and European integration in Southeast Europe. Together with partner organizations, he develops innovative formats for civic education and public dialogue that bring together actors from civil society, the arts, and academia while opening up new perspectives for sustainable development.
