Jamila Schäfer is a Member of the German Bundestag for the district Munich-South, where she won a direct mandate in the 2021 election. She serves as a full member on the Foreign Affairs Committee and Budget Committee as well as on the Committee on European Union Affairs as a deputy member. In the Budget Committee she is responsible for the budgets of the Foreign and Interior Ministries. Her foreign policy focus is on Western Europe, Central and Southern Africa as well as the United Nations and European finance.

In 2011, she started her political career in the Green Youth, serving as its chair from 2015 to 2017. From 2018 to 2022 she was Deputy Chair of the German Greens (BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN) and International and European Coordinator. She also was Co-Chair of the party’s special commission on right-wing extremism.
