Maria Kurinna is a Ukrainian woman human rights defender from Luhansk, advocacy leader and a researcher, grass-roots capacity development expert in the intersection of conflict, women’s rights and multiple discrimination. Maria and her family faced life threats in 2014 in eastern Ukraine during Russian occupation. Mariia became a women and child rights advocate and expert, with a focus on the conflict-affected population and internally displaced persons. Mariia is a feminist with a background in diplomacy, defending the rights of IDPs and refugees, she has a strong record of international advocacy and campaigning experience promoting the rights of women and girls in Ukraine, justice and human security in the context of Russia’s war of aggression. Mariia is an experienced advocate at the UN agencies, the Council of Europe, European Parliament, and world capitals, she is also an affiliate of “Youth for Inclusive Europe”.
