Oscar L. Larsson is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the Swedish Defense University (SEDU). His research focuses on how war and war preparedness shape current security politics and practices, as well as the role resilience currently plays in crisis management. Oscar Larsson has previously published articles on modes of governance and different power/domination in Critical Policy Studies, Regulation & Governance, and Policy Sciences. He has previously covered resilience and individual responsibility in Security Dialogue.
Larsson is currently finalizing a monograph entitled NATO and Civil Defense - A Genealogical Study of 75 Years of Security Politics under contract with Palgrave Macmillan (to be published in June 2026). This work focuses on how NATO approaches the new security challenges posed by grey-zone conflict and hybrid threats. He will be the Principal Investigator on a research project examining the current role of civil administration in contemporary civil and total defense, with a particular focus on addressing grey-zone challenges in peacetime 2026-2028.
