She holds a Master of Arts in Modern German Literature and studied German Language and Literature, Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies, History, and Arabic Studies in Bonn and Berlin. After starting her career in publishing at zweiwochendienst-Verlag, she worked in public relations and communications consulting. She subsequently served as Head of Public Relations at the human rights organization Adopt a Revolution, focusing on Syria, and was for a period also a member of its executive board.
