Green Transformation

The crises and wars of our time cannot be brought to an end without international cooperation. Reducing spending on development cooperation and humanitarian aid is therefore a wrong move – which will also ultimately harm us.

The UN’s Global Sustainable Development Report 2023 shows that achieving the agreed targets requires sweeping reforms, not incremental steps. To ensure broad-based support for wholesale change, policymakers will need to create new narratives and pursue an equitable and just transformation.

A climate-neutral world free of hunger and poverty is a distant proposition. Still, it is achievable. If, by means of redistribution and global cooperation, we manage to create prosperity for all, democracy will profit too.
