Independently run, autonomous artistic initiatives outside official structures have become important factors in art in public space. These projects not only create artistic platforms aimed at incorporating artists but also exploit multifariously communicative, hence social and political, possibilities for contributing to the way public space is treated by the public.

Anlässlich des 35. Jubiläums des Konzerts von Wolf Biermanns in Köln sowie der Ausbürgerung wurde in Gesprächen mit Zeitzeuginnen und Zeitzeugen an die Ereignisse selbst vor allem aber an die Proteste in der DDR wie im Ausland erinnert werden.

What is the state of the caste monster in twentieth century India? Have the forms of discrimination and inequality altered? What is the experience of belonging to a less privileged caste? This lecture will try to address this vast and complicated story by focusing on what caste means for young people in India today.
