Art in public space: Democracy and participation
Against the backdrop of the growing privatisation of the public sphere, increasing
importance is being attached to providing transparent and democratic
structures for selecting and commissioning art in public space. Based on traditional
public art, over the last few decades, art competitions have emerged as
a possible and important means of implementing democracy and participation.
The workshop will present various models for competition procedures and discuss
the prospects of achieving standard international or European guidelines.
