Award
Feminism Now!
Award for Feminist Action
We are hailing feminists who are courageous, who persevere and who, often at risk to their own life and safety, will stand up for sexual rights and self-determination, feminists, who are able to thrill others and invigorate them, often while working behind the scenes. We want to put them in the spotlight by offering them a stage where they may tell their stories and be lauded – thus the aim of this newly created award, which comes with prize money of 10.000 euros, a gala, and the promise to put the awardees' struggle centre-stage, no matter where it is taking place. With Feminism Now! the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung wants to take a political stand and show that publicity may offer protection, that international recognition may empower political activism, and that financial backing will help achieve tangible change.
The awardee is selected by an independent five-person jury.

Who and how to nominate?
With Feminism Now! Award for Feminist Action, the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung is honouring people who are campaigning for human and equal rights, as well as for sexual self-determination.
Nominees are fighting patriarchal structures that cause violence, curtail freedoms, or obstruct democratic participation. They engage in ways that are not abstract but tangible, meaning, they are part of political movements, civil society networks, and their communities, and they will pursue their causes on the streets, in court, in parliament, or in digital spaces.
Feminism Now! is meant for feminists from all across the globe.
We are looking forward to nominations of women, lesbians, inter*, non-binary, trans*, and agender people whose tireless and courageous work towards a self-determined life free from discrimination and violence has resulted in social change that is of strategic significance.
If duly substantiated, exceptions can be made allowing for the nomination of more than one person or of groups (excluding organisations). Members of the jury may not be nominated; you cannot nominate yourself; and the nomination of deceased persons is also ruled out.
Individuals, or groups of individuals, initiatives, and organisations are eligible to submit nominations.
