Romier da Paixão Sousa is an agronomist from the Federal Rural University of the Amazon, Brazil. He holds a Master's degree in Amazonian Agriculture from the Federal University of Pará, a Master's in Agroecology from the International University of Andalusia, and a PhD in Environmental Studies from Pablo de Olavide University. From 2001 to 2002, he worked as an ATER (Technical Assistance and Rural Extension) agent in rural settlements. Between 2003 and 2005, he served as a technical advisor to civil society organizations in the field of agroecology, and was an active member of the National Agroecology Articulation.
He is current professor at the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA), Brazil and member of the Political Ecology Working Group of de Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO - Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales. He is also the coordinator of the project “Resistances on the Forest Floor”. His research interests include Family farming, agroecology, rural extension, and the Amazon.
