Matias Mieth blickt in die Kamera und lächelt

After studying German, English and education in Leipzig, Jena and Berlin, Matias Mieth was a lecturer for German language, history and literature at the University of Iasi in Romania. He then went to Erfurt as press spokesman for the state parliamentary group "New Forum - Greens - Democracy Now". Here he was founding chairman of the Green-affiliated educational organization "Querdenken e.V." and defended his doctorate on Heiner Müller's drama in Berlin in 1994. Since then, he has been a department head for social affairs and culture in Jena, a social planner, museum director and, time and again, a teacher. He is currently a member of the Jena City Council and works to establish and further develop the Jenaplan approach to reform education in a so-called "hotspot school". Matias is a shareholder of Theaterhaus Jena gGmbH.
