Helena Quis
Expert on security and resilience at the Bertelsmann-Stiftung

Helena Quis is an expert on security and resilience in the Europe Programme of the Bertelsmann Stiftung, where she leads the project Comprehensive Defence with a focus on civil preparedness. Her work examines European models of comprehensive defence, prospects for European cooperation and coordination, as well as NATO’s resilience agenda and the EU Preparedness Union.

She holds a double Master’s degree in International Relations and Public Diplomacy from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and the University of Siena, as well as a certificate in French and European Studies from Sciences Po Lyon. 

During her studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Centre for International Studies and Development at the Jagiellonian University, focusing on EU foreign policy. Her professional experience also includes positions at the Austrian Mission to NATO and in international development cooperation.

Before entering political science, she completed training in marketing communications and studied communications management. She subsequently worked for several years in public relations and public affairs in Austria and Germany.
