Justyna Gotkowska is coordinator of the Regional Security Programme in the Warsaw-based think tank Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW), where she has worked since 2008. She studied linguistics, international relations and European studies in Poland and Germany. She focuses on regional, European and transatlantic security issues from a Central European perspective. She started her research focusing on German security and defence policy, and expanded expertise on defence issues to the Nordic-Baltic region and Central Europe. In recent years she has been dealing extensively with NATO and US defence and deterrence posture on the European eastern flank and with the recent EU’s initiatives in security and defence from the regional perspective. She has also written about Polish security and defence policy for an English-speaking audience. She is author of multiple articles and publications and security policy commentator for the Polish and foreign media.
