
Rasmus Andresen was born in the Ruhr Area of Germany in 1986 and grew up in Flensburg as part of the Danish minority community. He has been a member of Alliance 90/The Greens since 2001. In 2006, he became Party Chairman of the Young Greens in Schleswig-Holstein. He studied Communication and Administration Sciences in Roskilde (Denmark). 2009 saw him elected to Schleswig-Holstein’s state parliament. There, he was initially a member of the Green opposition party, and later of the governing Green parliamentary group, before also becoming Vice-President of the State Parliament between 2017 and 2019. Between 2012 and 2015, Rasmus Andresen served on the Green Federal Council.
Since 2019, he has been a Member of the European Parliament within the Group of The Greens/EFA. There he serves as their Spokesperson in the Committee of Budgets and also as a Substitute Member in the Committee for Industry and the Committee on the Internal Market. As such, he addresses the issues of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, the open internet, and start-ups. As a member of the LGBTI* Intergroup, he actively advocates the rights of queer people. A native of Flensburg, Rasmus Andresen is responsible for regional support in Schleswig-Holstein and is dedicated to acquiring more funding for Schleswig-Holstein’s digital infrastructure, environmentally friendly mobility and social projects.
