Emeritus holder of the Chair of Economics of Private Households and Family Science at the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Ecotrophology and Environmental Management at the Justus Liebig University of Gießen. Studies in economics and sociology.

Member of the expert commission for the preparation of the 7th Family Report of the Federal Government, external expert of the Community Initiative EQUAL at the European Union, member of the expert commission for the preparation of the 1st Equality Report of the Federal Government, member of the scientific advisory board of the Competence Centre for Consumer Research NRW.
In December 2012, Uta Meier-Gräwe received the Bernhard Christoph Faust Medal from the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs in Wiesbaden for her voluntary activities in the field of health promotion. Since 1.5.2013, Uta Meier-Gräwe has headed the Competence Centre "Professionalisation and Quality Assurance of Services Close to Home", which is based at her chair and funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. On 1 February 2015, she was appointed as an expert to the Enquete Commission "The Future of Family Policy in NRW" by the President of the State Parliament in Düsseldorf. She is also a member of the Family Policy Commission of the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
