The paper summarizes the main challenges facing strategic and coordinated action towards the UN concept of water as a human right, identifies what types of processes and institutions needs to be developed to meet the challenges of the concept and provides best practise examples from countries that have shown innovation.

This paper aims, firstly, to tackle the gender political challenges of the future and to renew our understanding of gender democracy. Secondly, it gives an outline of our programme focus, defines our aims and tasks, and sets out terminology and tools of gender democratic policy.

In June 2008, after ten years at our offices in Hackesche Höfe, the Heinrich Böll Foundation is about to move to its newly built headquarters at Schumannstraße 8 in Berlin-Mitte opposite the Deutsches Theater.
