Asia, the world’s most populous continent, has been undergoing a dramatic transformation. Globalization and new technologies are leading millions of people out of poverty. At the same time loss of land as well as violent conflicts are forcing people to migrate within and outside Asia.

This number of Perspectives Asia looks to Thailand, Myanmar, Pakistan, India and others to show the different motives for migration and the difficult life of those being affected. While Europe today mainly discusses about refugees from Africa and the Middle East A Continent on the Move spotlights the global dimension of the phenomenon of migration.
