Water is a vital resource for life on Earth, but overuse, pollution, and climate change are threatening water supplies worldwide. There is great potential to conserve water resources and better adapt them to seasonal climate fluctuations, especially in industry and agriculture. However, the design of future-oriented food and water-saving production systems will require a great willingness to change in politics, society, and agriculture in the coming decades.
The Water Atlas 2025 published by the Heinrich Böll Foundation and BUND provides information on how to protect water ecosystems from overuse and pollution – and how to strengthen the human right to water.
