COP19: UN Climate Conference 2013
The 19th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held in Warsaw from November 11 to 22, 2013.
The aim is to draw up a global climate agreement that is to be signed in Paris in 2015 and enter into force after 2020. However, since the failure of the negotiations in Copenhagen in 2009, hopes that this will succeed are fading. Financial and economic crises in Europe and around the world are pushing climate change off the political agenda. More and more actors doubt that the UN negotiations will provide any significant impetus for socio-ecological change.
To help you form your own opinion on the subject, we have summarized the Foundation's work on climate protection on this overview page. You will also find further background information on the conference.

Climate Finance Fundamentals
Updated just before COP 19, this series of 11 short briefings published by our North America office in co-operation with the Overseas Development Institute, looks at various aspects of climate change financing. It is meant to give readers unfamiliar with the topic a better understanding of financial flows, the regions they reach, and the climate interventions they target. Data draws on www.climatefundsupdate.org, the tracking project of ODI/hbf focusing on dedicated climate financing instruments from pledge to project.
