Nino Kirtadze was born in Tbilisi and holds a degree in literary studies. During the 1990s, she reported for the news agencies AFP and AP from crisis regions in the Caucasus on subjects such as the Chechen war. She has lived in France since 1997. Kirtadze is a member of La SCAM, the French filmmakers and authors society, and of the European Film Academy.
