The annual report 2014 informs about the activities of the Heinrich Böll Foundation inland and overseas. It deals with democracy, human rights, European policy, the Great Transition, arts, culture, the work of the Gunda Werner Institute to mention but a few.

The five-yearly Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is taking place from April 27 to May 22, 2015. In order to increase pressure for nuclear disarmament and to strengthen the non-proliferation regime, nuclear weapons need to be banned under international law, as other weapons of mass destruction already are. A ban treaty would complement and strengthen the NPT. Germany should therefore stand up for a ban on nuclear weapons at the Review Conference.

This paper is aimed at informing German civil society groups about the role of German financial institutions in supporting the acquisition of raw materials – primarily from overseas – and the social and environmental impacts of doing so.

For this edition of Perspectives the Heinrich Böll Foundation asked a number of African intellectuals, writers and analysts to provide their take on Africa’s relationship with Europe. The result is a small collection of interviews, short essays and comments that throw light on the complexities and complexes of this relationship, using analysis, imagery, experience, provocation and humour.

The third and updated edition of the discussion paper "Carbon Majors Funding Loss and Damage". The Climate Justice Programme and the Heinrich Böll Foundation are proposing that major fossil fuel producers ("the Carbon Majors") pay a levy based on their emissions to date and on future extraction to the International Mechanism for Loss and Damage.

For this edition of Perspectives, the Heinrich Böll Foundation offered Africa-based thinkers and commentators an opportunity to critically reflect on what a “transition towards sustainability” means or should mean for the region. The articles gathered here go beyond ideological debates to also provide some case studies where green-economy principles have been applied.
