Our food has a political and ethical dimension and constantly raises questions about our responsibility. After the Fleischatlas 2013 showed the impact of Europe's meat consumption on emerging and developing countries and on the climate, the Fleischatlas 2014 sheds light on the “big business” of meat – from Europe and the US to the emerging economies of China and India.
How many animals are slaughtered annually in Germany and worldwide? Who profits from cheap meat? Which hormones end up on our plates unintentionally, and how many pesticides are used?
The Fleischatlas 2014 serves up new topics related to meat consumption in twenty short essays and shows that alternatives to large-scale industrial meat production are possible.
