Januar 2006 behauptete eine Fernsehreportage im staatlichen Sender "Rossija" einen Zusammenhang zwischen angeblich spionierenden britischen Diplomaten und der Arbeit russischer Nichtregierungsorganiosationen. Diese Sichtweise bestätigten zahlreiche russische Politiker und Offizielle in den darauffolgenden Tagen, darunter Präsident Putin, der Pressesprecher des Inlandsgeheimdienstes FSB und eine große Mehrheit der Staatsduma. Kurzprogramm der Partei "Grünes Russland" Published: 12 May 2008 Anfang Juni haben VertreterInnen von Umweltschutzgruppen in Russland unter dem Namen "Grünes Russland" eine Partei gegründet. Zum Vorsitzenden wurde der bekannte Umweltschützer Alexej Jablokow gewählt, einer seiner Stellvertreter wurde Alexander Nikitin, der Ende der 90er Jahre drei Jahre in Untersuchungshaft saß, weil er Informationen über im Meer verklappten Atommüll der Nordseeflotte gesammelt hatte. Report: “Chaos is just a special form of order" Published: 9 May 2008 At the Global Greens Congress the Heinrich Böll Foundation discussed ways of achieving a sustainable development of cities. Sao Paulo, the world’s third-biggest city, was the venue for the second world congress of green parties and political movements that began on May 1, 2008. 800 delegates from more than 80 different countries of all continents had come to the Brazilian megacity for four days to discuss joint strategies focusing on how to combat climate change.

While some participants saw the Iranian nuclear program as a threat to Turkey’s national security, others emphasized Western double standards and the flaws of the nonproliferation regime.
Summary Brussels Round Table, December 2006 Published: 2 May 2008 The Brussels conference on Iran and its nuclear ambitions provided insight into the role of the international community, international organizations, and the Middle Eastern states. The participants characterized the EU’s multilateral negotiation approach as successful because it maintained an international consensus, but as unsuccessful in delivering the security guarantees, in which Iran’s leadership is interested.
Summary Tel Aviv Round Table, January 2008 Published: 2 May 2008 The debate at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv took place under the shadow of the US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) report and the recent US diplomatic engagement for a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Curbing Climate Change Published: 13 February 2008 In November of 2006, Vattenfall, a large, Northern European utility with substantial investments in nuclear energy and lignite based power plants, released a report called Curbing Climate Change: an outline of a framework leading to a low carbon emitting society. With this report it crossed an important line, stepping beyond generalities and (a first for the business sector, at least as far as we know) making a specific, quantitative proposal for a global burden sharing framework. For these reasons alone it merits our attention.
